" I just flew the VNR3D for the first time. This was only a test hover but I AM SHOCKED!!! Very crisp, lots of power on the stock motor and battery (stock motor is brushed, stock battery is a 9 cell Nimh)" "It is far more responsive than the Blade CP-not even a close comparison. It is very, very, very quick on the cyclic and the collective and you have to be "on it" in the hover, at least until you get used to it." "Just like the Outback Rescue-it flew correctly right out of the box." Click here for more user reports |
The Venom Night Ranger 3D comes RTF [Ready-to-Fly] and is an excellent choice for intermediate to advanced heli pilots.
Calvin's Comments:
"Initial inspection shows a well thought out head. A bit of time spent making the head as free as possible helps heaps in increasing its stability. The head is quite durable as evidenced by the amount of abuse it took when we gave it a few dose of gravity. The only thing damaged was the foam blades which can be repaired quickly (but not beautifully) using fiber reinforced tape. Oh, and the fly bar needs to be straightened too if that was bent.
Hovering the VNR3D was a bit anti-climatic, because, aside from a slight jump in the collective at middle point after spool up, the heli is fairly docile in a hover. Tail response is slow (think old school geared dragonflys but with more authority and response) but still easy to live with. Heaps of fun though, chucking it around in the back yard after work. Or... in the car park during the lunch break.
Aerobatic capabilities are limited to stall turns, chandelles, loops and rolls (with a massive dose of altitude and forward momentum). Inverted hovers and flight are possible if you watch the tail :) Still, I am very excited about getting one to fly for indoor nights, it's a lot of fun just putting the little fella around."
