| The first set of
Brushless electric motors is the MEGA ACn22
series based on size parameters of Mega Mini
series brushed motors and speed 600 external
diameter (36 mm). They are direct
replacements in most speed 600 mounting
configurations. The ACn22 line is six pole
3-phase AC motors with efficiency up to 86%
with a 3-wire delta wind. These motors are
available in 4 lengths designed especially
for direct drive applications and suitable
for gearbox, electric ducted fan, and
helicopter operation, car.
The newest set of Brushless motors to be
introduced is the MEGA ACn16/15 size which
are direct replacements for Speed 400 and
Speed 480 brushed motors and ACn16/7 Speed
400 Short motors.
Armatures are hardened steel with Kevlar
wrapped magnets placed on two ball bearings.
Model numbers are based on rotor diameter,
length, and number of turns on the armature:
22/10/5 = 22 mm diameter / 10 mm rotor
length / 5 turns. E Indicates Energy Star or
less aggressive current stingy wind. H
Indicates Helicopter use.
Any Sensorless Brushless Electronic Speed
Control (ESC) can be used with the ACn 22/XX
and ACn16/XX Series motors. We have tested
motors with MGM Compro, Castle Creations,
Schulze, and Jeti ESC's with success.
Kontronic ESC will work but should not be
used for high rpm operation. Hacker Master
ESC should not be used in their default
program mode.

If you purchase a
brushless motor, you will also need a
brushless controller of equal or greater
current rating. In general, its better to
get the higher current controller because it
can be used with larger motors in future. |
