RC sailing ketch. For 2-channel radio control. Semi-scale model of a sailing ketch. Quick-build kit including CNC-trimmed hull shell and deck, profiled sails, all fittings. 
Product information: LIBERA OCEAN is based on one of the large sailing yachts which chased relentlessly across the oceans in the last Whitbread Round the World Races - a pitiless environment for crew and equipment alike. These maxi-yachts are designed exclusively for the Whitbread and are about 25 m long. Their characteristic ketch rig provides an unusually large maximum sail area, making the boats particularly well adapted to sailing on the dominant free-wind course, achieving highly impressive speeds in so doing. The same applies to the model. Especially when running with wind abeam and with free wind in moderate wind strengths the model can even be made to surf. This is due to the low centre of sail pressure which results from the ketch rig, in conjunction with a relatively low-draught hull and the modern keel with streamlined low-set ballast weight. The ketch rig also provides very good directional stability; the model exhibits virtually neutral handling on all tacks in light to moderate winds, i.e. it is largely devoid of any tendency to luff up or bear away by itself. Nevertheless its balanced cantilever rudder endows the boat with excellent manoeuvring capability. The kit comes complete with all fittings, so nothing extra is required to complete the model apart from a simple 2-channel radio control system. A REGATTA ECO or REGATTA sailwinch is used to control all three sails in parallel. The two-colour sails are professionally made from lightweight sail fabric and feature an integral profile in order to achieve best possible efficiency. The moulded hull shell and deck are supplied CNC-trimmed as standard. Die-cut plywood parts are used to absorb the forces exerted by the rig and keel, and this construction produces a very lightweight hull.
